Overview
The Teatro de la Maestranza hosts a performance of Georg Friedrich Händel's Messiah in Seville.
This work is one of the most celebrated oratorios in Western classical music, composed by Georg Friedrich Händel in 1741 to an English libretto by Charles Jennens. The score is divided into three parts that trace the prophecy and nativity of Jesus, the Passion and redemption, with the final chorus Hallelujah standing out among the best-known pieces in music history.
The Teatro de la Maestranza is Seville's main lyric and concert theatre, situated on the banks of the Guadalquivir river. This cultural venue regularly programmes symphonic performances, opera and classical-format recitals, hosting productions featuring prominent orchestras and choirs on its main stage.
