9th Wonder

A night of blues, country and folk at The Blues Kitchen in Manchester. The act works in three American roots traditions that share a focus on song, storytelling and the voice.

9th Wonder is an act working in blues, country and folk, three American roots traditions that share a focus on song, storytelling and the voice. Blues grew from African American work songs and field hollers, country from the ballad and string-band traditions of the American South, and folk from older songs carried from singer to singer.

Each tradition developed its own forms, but they have long influenced one another, with blues phrasing and country themes appearing in later folk recordings. Listeners who follow roots music will recognise these connections in the material.

The Blues Kitchen, which hosts concerts and shows in Manchester, is the venue for this night. The evening suits those who want to hear these styles performed live in the city.
