Andrew Ryan: Honest Capacity

Andrew Ryan: Honest Capacity is a stand-up comedy show by Andrew Ryan, staged at Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds. The new material follows a previous tour and turns everyday misadventures into comedy.

Ryan presents a version of himself that seems content: happily married, confident, and able to drive a golf ball 300 yards. The show gradually sets that picture against his repeated poor decisions and his inability to read a room. Its subjects include pet ownership and a growing frustration with the world around him, so the comedy moves from apparent calm to mounting disorder.

The show is a stand-up performance in which the humour rests on the gap between how things appear and how they turn out. It is written as a new production rather than a revival of earlier material, and the tone is light and conversational, with the laughs coming from Ryan's own bewildering choices.

Ryan hosts the Q Radio Breakfast Show and has appeared on The Two Jonnies Late Night Lock In (RTE), The Blame Game (BBC) and Comedy Central Live, as well as on several comedy podcasts in the UK and Ireland. His social media clips have gathered over 50 million views. Reviewers in The Metro, The Mirror and The Skinny praised the writing and the thinking beneath the jokes. Hyde Park Book Club is the Leeds venue hosting the show.
