Overview
A launch party at Club Empire in London built around house and disco, two dance styles that share much of their musical history. Club Empire hosts concerts and shows in the capital.
House emerged in Chicago in the early 1980s, drawing on disco records and electronic instruments such as drum machines and synthesisers. It developed into a foundation of later club music, and its steady four-beat pulse and vocal hooks owe much to the disco of the 1970s. Disco, which peaked in the mid-1970s, built a dance repertoire of rhythmic basslines, strings and soul-influenced vocals that house producers reworked with electronic tools.
Club Empire hosts concerts and shows in London. This launch party is a dance event for listeners who follow electronic music and want to hear how house and disco connect, from their roots to their modern forms.
