Emma-Jean Thackray: Dear Miles - A Love Letter

A concert framed as a letter to the jazz trumpeter Miles Davis, by the British nu jazz musician and composer Emma-Jean Thackray, staged at EartH in London.

Emma-Jean Thackray is a British nu jazz musician and composer, born in 1989 in Leeds, who emerged in 2016. The debut album, Yellow, was released in 2021 on Warner Music Group, and the album Weirdo followed in 2025.

The title, Dear Miles, presents the evening as a love letter addressed to Miles Davis. The written account at its heart describes how a teenager came across his recordings by chance, learned the melody of Four by ear on trumpet, and was struck by his independence and his care for the overall sound and production. Emma-Jean Thackray's own music is built on the same blend of jazz and production.

This is a tribute to Miles Davis, not a performance by him. It will suit listeners interested in jazz and in the personal story behind the music. EartH hosts concerts and shows in London, and this event is listed at EartH Theatre.
