Mo Notice : CHERISE,TKofi,TCatarov,BHeinen,KSeydou

Moment's Notice is a London jazz gig series curated by George Nelson, in which musicians who have not previously improvised together play in a trio and a duo before joining for a quintet finale. This listing is for Episode Nine of Season Six.

The series is devised and hosted by George Nelson, who also curates the line-ups and is the author of the London jazz photobook Scenes. According to the source, previous guests have included Saul Williams, Kae Tempest and Shabaka.

For this episode the bill is split into a trio and a duo. The trio brings together Tony Kofi on saxophones, Cherise on voice and Kienou Seydou on djembe. The duo pairs Tereza Catarov on voice with Bruno Heinen on piano. Each combination plays a fully improvised set of around thirty-five minutes, and the five musicians then come together for a quintet finale.

The format rests on the fact that the participating musicians have no prior history of improvising with one another, so each set is built on the spot. The event takes place at Amp Studios, a concert venue at Arches 68 71 on Old Kent Road in south-east London.
