Overview
A 35th anniversary presentation of Primal Scream's 1991 album Screamadelica, staged at the Planetarium at Glasgow Science Centre. The band is a Glasgow rock group whose work spans indie guitar music and dance culture.
Primal Scream formed in Glasgow in 1982, with Bobby Gillespie as the group's vocalist and a founder member. Their third album, Screamadelica, was released on Creation Records in 1991 and combines guitar-based indie rock with acid house, dub and gospel influences. Its best-known tracks include "Loaded" and "Movin'on Up", and the record remains the centrepiece of the band's catalogue.
This evening marks the album's 35th anniversary, with the record presented in full as the focus of the night. The programme draws on the material that made Screamadelica a landmark of British music in the early 1990s, when rock bands were increasingly drawing on club culture.
