Alex Bishop's 'Netherway

Guitarist and composer, Alex Bishop brings a brand new quintet featuring musicians emerging from the London jazz scene, with Harris Dakin (Alto Sax), Emil Stewart-Nerona (Tenor Sax), Joe Snelling (Bass), and Max Kroon (Drums).

Always an energising musical presence and with influences from the likes of Dave Holland, Phronesis, Jesse Van Ruller and Bill Frisell, Alex’s music brings together lyrical melodies reminiscent of the Great American Songbook, intertwined with a contemporary rhythmic approach and his signature ear for dark and memorable harmonies. He creates labyrinthine compositions ripe for spacious and conversational exploration.

Alex has been a rising presence on the UK jazz scene for some years now, having released and performed his music with his band Assembly Trio at some of the UK’s most prestigious grassroots jazz venues that include Sheffield Jazz, Jazz at the Lescar, Scarborough Jazz and Toulouse Lautrec, both topping the bill and in support of some of the UK’s most elite jazz performers. In addition to performing his own compositions, you may have caught Alex performing as a sideperson in various lineups at high profile venues and festivals across the UK, to include: The Glasshouse ICM, Derry and Wigan Jazz Festivals, The Crucible Theatre - Sheffield and The Leicester Curve Theatre.
