Overview
Back to the Future The Musical is a stage adaptation of the 1985 film, presented at Bristol Hippodrome during its visit to the city. It is a musical, so the story is carried through sung numbers and staged scenes.
The show follows the film's central premise: a teenager, Marty McFly, is sent back in time in a car built by the eccentric inventor Doc Brown, and must secure the future while changing the past. The story moves between 1985 and the 1950s, the two periods of the original film, with the time-travel plot at the centre.
As a musical, the production combines songs with dialogue and staged action, so the storytelling carries the evening rather than a single performer. Audiences who know the film will recognise its key moments and characters, while those new to the story can follow the plot from its opening scenes.
The production is staged at Bristol Hippodrome, a venue in the city that hosts concerts and shows.
