City of the Sun

City of the Sun brings an experimental instrumental sound blending indie rock, folk, flamenco, and blues to Glasgow.

City of the Sun is an instrumental outfit formed by lead guitarist and frontman John Pita, percussionist and drummer Zach Para, bassist Matt Fasano, and guitarist Marco Bolfelli. Their music draws from diverse stylistic inspirations ranging from indie rock and American folk to flamenco and blues, alongside shared appreciation for artists such as Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Santana, The War on Drugs, and Coldplay. Having started their career performing on the streets, the quartet developed a distinct approach that has previously taken them on tour with Thievery Corporation, Peter Bjorn and John, G. Love, and STS9, as well as appearances at major festivals and scoring the documentary soundtrack for The C Word.

On this visit to Glasgow, the act performs at The Hug and Pint, a venue that hosts concerts and shows in the city. The performance suits listeners interested in genre-blending instrumental music shaped by global backgrounds and varied musical traditions.
