Overview
A concert by the American singer Emma Ruth Rundle at Islington Assembly Hall in London, linked to the forthcoming album These Killing Times, the follow-up to Engine of Hell.
Emma Ruth Rundle is an American singer, born in 1983 in Los Angeles. Active in ambient music since 2008, the artist released the debut album Electric Guitar One in 2011, and this London date is an opportunity to hear the act on this visit to the capital.
The concert is connected to These Killing Times, which follows Engine of Hell from 2021. The album's presentation describes a record that aims for hope rather than withdrawal, acknowledging pain while offering community and resilience. It is described as a reactive anthology with a spirit of defiance, retaining the tenderness and vulnerability of earlier work, and it asks what people might live for, and what roles individuals and artists play.
Islington Assembly Hall is a Grade II listed building that hosts concerts and shows in London. Listeners new to the act may wish to explore Electric Guitar One alongside the newer material, to place the artist's recent direction within the earlier catalogue.
