GoGo Penguin

GoGo Penguin, the British jazz trio, play at KOKO in London. The group draws on jazz with piano, bass and drums as its core line-up.

GoGo Penguin is a British jazz trio formed in 2012 in Manchester. The group is built around piano, bass and drums, and its first album, Fanfares, was released the same year on Blue Note. Their music sits within contemporary jazz, with a trio format that places the piano at the centre of the sound.

In concert, the act performs as a trio, with the three instruments forming the full line-up on stage. This London date brings the group to KOKO, a venue that hosts concerts and shows in the capital, and the evening suits listeners interested in piano-led jazz and in the band's recorded work since their debut.

The project is a useful entry point for anyone wanting to hear how a small jazz ensemble of piano, bass and drums can build a distinctive voice. Their catalogue begins with Fanfares, and the same instrumentation carries through their later recordings and live performances.
