Overview
A concert by the banjo player and composer Jem Finer with John Matthias and Jay Auborn, held at St Pancras Old Church, a religious building on Pancras Road in north London.
Jem Finer is a banjo player and composer and a founding member of the Pogues, the London band whose work combined Irish folk music with punk. Finer later created Longplayer, a piece composed in 1999 to run for a thousand years, which plays continuously from a lighthouse at Trinity Buoy Wharf. This evening pairs Finer with John Matthias and Jay Auborn, both named alongside Finer in the programme.
St Pancras Old Church stands on Pancras Road in NW1 and is a religious building, so the performance takes place in a place of worship rather than in a dedicated concert hall. The event suits listeners interested in composed music in a church setting and in the work of Finer's long-term projects.
