Jorge Drexler

A London concert by Uruguayan musician, composer and singer Jorge Drexler, presenting the new album TARACÁ at The Roundhouse, with a seven-piece band and a rebuilt stage production.

Jorge Drexler is a Uruguayan musician, composer and singer, born in Montevideo in 1964. Described as a blend of folk, alternative rock and pop, the artist made a debut in 1990, and the album La luz que sabe robar, released in 1992 on Virgin Records, is among the early records in the catalogue. The current project is built around TARACÁ, the latest album, which gives its name to this tour date in London.

On stage, the musician is accompanied by a seven-piece band, and the staging has been newly redesigned for this show. The rhythms of Uruguayan candombe sit at the centre of the performance. The programme combines songs from TARACÁ with older pieces from the back catalogue, so that both recent and earlier material is heard in the same set.

The Roundhouse, the venue in London, hosts concerts and shows, and the evening is staged there as part of this run of dates. The event suits listeners who want to hear the new album performed live alongside music from earlier in the artist's career.
