Merkules

Canadian rapper and songwriter Merkules performs at The Grace in London, presenting material from the album Survivor's Guilt, his first full-length body of work in several years.

Merkules is a Canadian rapper and songwriter born in Surrey in 1992. Active since 2011, he released his debut album, Canadian Bacon, in 2012. Hailing from Surrey, British Columbia, he first emerged under the name Merk Mikz, building a following with freestyles over classic instrumentals before developing a more personal, emotionally direct style that he describes as hangover rap. He has been sponsored by Monster Energy and has amassed a large number of streams and views online.

The show centres on Survivor's Guilt, which the artist presents as a more personal project made after a gap of around five years without new music. The album brings together a long list of guest collaborators, among them Shaquille O'Neal, D12, B-Real and Brotha Lynch Hung, with the artist describing the record as both a tribute to long-time listeners and a step forward in his writing.

The Grace is a London venue hosting concerts and shows. The evening is aimed at listeners who follow Merkules's hip-hop, from those who have known his earlier releases to newer fans drawn to the emotionally charged delivery and hard-hitting beats of his recent work.
