Saves the Day

An evening of emo and alternative rock in Glasgow, with the American band Saves the Day, whose catalogue traces back to the late 1990s. Slay is the venue.

Saves the Day is an American emo band formed in Princeton in 1997 and signed to Equal Vision Records. Its first album, Can't Slow Down, was released in 1998, a year after the band was formed, and it marks the start of a recording career that has continued since.

Emo developed out of the American hardcore punk scene of the 1980s, and the band belongs to the melodic, confessional strand of that tradition. Its music is built on guitar-driven songs with emotionally direct lyrics, a style that has shaped many bands on the Equal Vision roster and beyond.

Slay is a Glasgow venue that hosts concerts and shows. The bill also features Chastity alongside Saves the Day, so the night suits listeners interested in emo and alternative rock from the late 1990s onwards.
