Overview
Shinmitsuna fun'iki is an electronic night bringing together Mike Anderson, Joe Smooth and Teknobrat on one bill, staged on this visit to London. Gwenda hosts the event.
The line-up pairs Joe Smooth, a Chicago house producer and DJ, with Mike Anderson and Teknobrat. Joe Smooth's music belongs to the Chicago house scene that developed in the mid-1980s, and the track Promised Land, released in 1987, is one of the best-documented records from that period. Its place on the bill links the night directly to the roots of house music.
Gwenda is a concert and performance venue in east London, and the night takes place there. It brings together live electronic music with a performance setting, which suits a programme built around electronic sound.
The evening will appeal to listeners who follow electronic dance music and to those interested in tracing house music back to its Chicago origins. Anyone curious about how older house production sits alongside newer electronic work will find the line-up a useful reference point.
