Overview
The Meltdown are a soul band whose music draws on Southern soul, with reference to Stax, Motown and Nashville songwriting. This London concert brings their live show to The Jazz Cafe.
The Meltdown draw on Southern soul, with echoes of the Stax and Motown catalogues and of the songwriting tradition of Nashville. Their sound is led by the vocals of Simon Burke, and the arrangements combine repetitive, hypnotic grooves, horn parts and melodic songs.
The band signed with Melbourne label Hopestreet Recordings about ten years ago, and their album has received critical acclaim. They have performed live and played at festivals. The concert forms part of a tour marking their tenth anniversary, and a new album is due for release.
The concert takes place at The Jazz Cafe, a London venue that hosts concerts and shows. It gives London audiences the chance to hear the group's soul-based repertoire performed live on this visit.
