Alcest

French post-metal and shoegaze pioneers Alcest perform live in Bristol at Electric Bristol on this tour.

Alcest is a French musical project founded in two thousand and one by Neige, who serves as the primary songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Initially formed as a black metal band, the project shifted direction significantly with the two thousand and five release of Le Secret, widely credited with establishing the blackgaze genre. This signature sound combines the aggressive blast beats and rasped vocals of black metal with the soaring, melodic guitar textures and ethereal atmosphere of shoegaze and post-rock.

Over two decades of activity, the project has released several acclaimed studio albums, including Souvenirs d'un autre monde and Écailles de Lune, which solidified a distinct auditory identity rooted in themes of childhood, memory, and a spiritual otherworldly realm. On stage, the repertoire draws heavily from these atmospheric compositions, bringing the dense layered arrangements to life for audiences.

Electric Bristol hosts this concert in Bristol, providing a stage for performances and shows in the city. The venue welcomes fans of heavy, atmospheric guitar music to experience the project's distinctive repertoire in person.
