About — The artist
El Búho, real name Robin Perkins, is a British DJ specialising in folkloric electronic cumbia. His musical style is strongly influenced by dub, IDM, afrodance... adding South American folk rhythms, melodies and instruments.
He also includes organic sounds (found sounds) in his tracks, such as waterfalls, birdsong and other natural sounds. In 2017 he debuted with his first studio album, Balance.
He also owns his own record label, Shika Shika, founded together with Argentine producer Barrio Lindo. Previously he released his publications under the Wonderwheel Recordings label.
Perkins's musical career is closely linked to activism for environmental conservation and, in his own words, "music is a vehicle for social issues and activism". He worked for several years for Greenpeace and has collaborated on various projects that bring together ecology and music.
