About — The artist
Foreigner is an American-British hard rock band, from New York. It was formed in 1976 by two established British musicians, Mick Jones, formerly guitarist for Spooky Tooth, and Ian McDonald, a multi-instrumentalist who had played with King Crimson and McDonald and Giles, together with a then-unknown American singer, Lou Gramm. As of 2014, the band has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide (including 37.5 million in the United States), making it one of the best-selling bands of all time. Their biggest hits remain Waiting for a Girl Like You, Hot Blooded, Juke Box Hero, Urgent, Break It Up, as well as I Want to Know What Love Is, released in late 1984, and I Don't Want to Live Without You. The band's name comes from the fact that three of its members are British — Mick Jones, Ian McDonald and drummer Dennis Elliott — while the other three, keyboardist Al Greenwood, bassist Ed Gagliardi and singer Lou Gramm, are American.
In 2008, after 14 years of studio inactivity, Foreigner returned with a compilation (No End in Sight: The Very Best of Foreigner) and a new track (Too Late). As the compilation's title suggested (No End in Sight), a new album followed on 29 September 2009: Can't Slow Down.
According to the band's official website, Foreigner was joined on stage by original members Lou Gramm, Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood and Ian McDonald, as well as bassist Rick Wills, for their tour celebrating the band's 40th anniversary. This reunion took place on 6 and 7 October 2017 at the Soaring Eagle Casino Resort in Michigan, United States, as well as during other concerts on the tour.
