About — The artist
Jah Wobble is the stage name of John Wardle, born in Stepney, a district of Tower Hamlets in Greater London, on 11 August 1958. Jah Wobble is a musician, bassist and singer who began a solo career in 1980 after being ousted from Public Image Limited.
He is known for his hypnotic, sub-bass sound, heavily influenced by dub. His compositions also draw on diverse traditions, which places him within world music.
He has collaborated with many musicians from very different backgrounds (Brian Eno, Bill Laswell, Holger Czukay of the group Can, Primal Scream, Joolz Denby...).
