Joe

Joseph Lewis Thomas, born July 5, 1973, and known as Joe, is an American contemporary R&B singer. He signed to Polygram Records in 1992 and gained recognition after the release of his first album, Everything, the following year. He followed up with a string of successful albums on Jive Records, including All That I Am (1997), the international bestseller My Name Is Joe (2000), and the multi-certified albums Better Days (2001) and And Then... (2003). Several tracks from these albums became hit singles on the pop and R&B charts, including the number-one “Stutter,” the top-ten hits “All the Things (Your Man Won't Do),” “Don't Wanna Be a Player” and “I Wanna Know,” as well as his collaborations “Faded Pictures” and “Thank God I Found You,” the latter performed with Mariah Carey and also a number-one hit, and “Still Not a Player.”

Since leaving Jive, Joe has released most of his projects independently, through collaborations with Kedar Massenburg and Plaid Takeover Entertainment. In 2016, his twelfth album, My Name Is Joe Thomas, became his eleventh album to reach the top five of Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, while the single “So I Can Have You Back” became his fourth number-one on the Adult R&B Songs chart across three consecutive decades (the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s). In 2010, Billboard ranked Joe 48th on its list of the 50 greatest R&B and hip-hop artists of the past 25 years. Winner of an ASCAP Award for his song “I Wanna Know,” Joe has received seven Grammy Award nominations and numerous other nominations, including a BET Award, an NAACP Image Award and four Soul Train Music Awards.
