About — The artist
Orchestra Baobab are a Senegalese musical group. They were formed in the 1970s and, after a long hiatus, returned to international success in the early 2000s. Their musical style is characterised by a blend of Latin rhythms (particularly Cuban), African sounds (Wolof and Serer singing, Casamance harmonies, traditional melodies from sub-Saharan Africa and the Maghreb) and soul and jazz influences.
