Shygirl, real name Blane Muise, born 4 May 1993 in London (England), is a British rapper, singer and musician of British-Grenadian origin, co-founder of the label and collective Nuxxe. Shygirl’s musical style incorporates elements of electronic music, hip-hop, experimental pop, grime and deconstructed club. She is also associated with the hyperpop scene.
Shygirl came to prominence after working with her close collaborator and friend Sega Bodega, as well as with other well-known experimental producers such as Arca and Sophie. She also attracted the attention of figures such as Rihanna, who used several Nuxxe tracks for her adverts and Fenty Beauty fashion shows, or Björk. Shygirl has released several singles since 2016, as well as three EPs titled Cruel Practice, Alias and Club Shy.
