About — The artist
Snarky Puppy is an instrumental fusion group based in Brooklyn, led by composer, producer and bassist Michael League.
The group's first album, The Only Constant, was released in 2006. Like the following two albums, it came out on Sitmom Records. From their 5th album onwards, Tell Your Friends (2010), the group chose Ropeadope Records as their label.
The album We Like It Here was recorded live in October 2013 in Utrecht; it was released in February 2014, debuting at number one on the iTunes jazz charts. On 26 January 2014, Snarky Puppy, together with Lalah Hathaway, won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance for their rendition of Brenda Russell's song Something, from Family Dinner – Volume 1.
In 2016, the group released the album Culcha Vulcha, which received the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.
