About — The artist

The Pussycat Dolls (abbreviated PCD) are an American pop and R&B girl group, from Los Angeles, California.

The group is a spin-off of the burlesque revue of the same name, created in 1995 by Robin Antin. Following the revue's success, Antin decided in 2003 to launch and produce a girl group made up of both former revue members and new members such as Nicole Scherzinger and Melody Thornton. The Pussycat Dolls achieved worldwide success with the singles Don't Cha, Stickwitu, Buttons, and their first album, certified multi-platinum, PCD (2005).

However, despite their commercial success, the group was plagued by internal conflicts due to the importance given to Scherzinger, the group's lead singer, and the subordinate treatment of the other members. Bachar's departure from the group preceded the release of their second and final studio album, Doll Domination (2008), which contains the hits When I Grow Up, I Hate This Part, and Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny). After their 2009 world tour ended, the group went on hiatus, and split completely in 2010. The original group, minus Thornton, announced a reunion in 2019 with a tour and a new album. However, with the situation worsening due to the Covid-19 pandemic, contract terminations and logistical issues, the reunion tour was cancelled in 2022. The group reunited a second time in 2026, made up solely of Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt.

The Pussycat Dolls brand has diversified with merchandise, reality TV shows, a Las Vegas show, product endorsements, spin-off girl groups (Girlicious, Paradiso Girls, G.R.L.) and other ventures. Billboard ranked the Pussycat Dolls 80th among the most popular music groups of the 2000s. The group has sold 55 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. In 2012, the Pussycat Dolls were ranked 100th on VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music, and were the tenth-ranked girl group.
