80's Night "The Police vs Duran Duran"

An 80's night pairing the catalogues of The Police and Duran Duran, with Double Duran and Shiny Metal Boxes on the bill, at The Fillmore Silver Spring in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The Police were formed in London in 1977 by Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland. Their best-known songs include "Roxanne," "Message in a Bottle" and "Every Breath You Take," and their blend of rock, reggae and new wave made them one of the defining bands of the period. Duran Duran were formed in Birmingham, England, in 1978, with Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and John Taylor among the core members. Their synth-driven pop produced hits such as "Hungry Like the Wolf," "Rio" and "Girls on Film."

The evening is built around these two repertoires, which share the early-1980s new wave and pop-rock sound that both bands helped define. Double Duran and Shiny Metal Boxes are the other acts listed for the night.

The Fillmore Silver Spring is a concert and show venue in Silver Spring, Maryland. The night suits listeners who grew up with 1980s pop, rock and new wave, and anyone who wants to hear the songs of both bands on a single bill.
