An Evening With They Might Be Giants: The Big Show Tour

An evening with They Might Be Giants, the Brooklyn-formed American band, on the Big Show Tour at The Fillmore in San Francisco. The night draws on the band's pop, rock and indie catalogue.

They Might Be Giants is an American band formed in Brooklyn in 1982. Its music sits between alternative rock, indie rock and power pop, and its best-known songs include "Birdhouse in Your Soul" and "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)." The band has been signed to Walt Disney Records, a label that gives its catalogue a broad reach beyond the alternative scene where it began.

The Big Show Tour is billed as An Evening With They Might Be Giants, a title that places the band at the center of the program. The concert takes place at The Fillmore, a San Francisco venue that hosts concerts and shows, so the evening belongs to the city's live music calendar rather than a festival or a club night.

The program is aimed at listeners who follow the band's songwriting and at fans of pop, rock and indie music who want to hear a long-running act in a concert setting. Its mix of melodic hooks and offbeat lyrics has made the group a reference for many guitar-based bands of the past decades.
