The Old State House, built in 1713, was a center of revolutionary activity in Boston, and it was the setting for the events of the Boston Massacre. The Old South Meeting House, which dates to 1729, hosted the large gatherings of the revolutionary period, including the meeting that preceded the Boston Tea Party. The two buildings stand about two blocks apart, so they can be visited together on one trip.

The two museums are covered by a single joint admission. Across both sites, visitors can explore exhibits, take part in tours and attend public programs that focus on these episodes of the Revolution. Each building presents its own history, and the exhibits give a picture of the events that took place in them.

The visit suits anyone interested in colonial and revolutionary history, and families are also welcome. Infants and small children may ride in a stroller, and service animals are allowed. The Old South Meeting House is accessible, while the Old State House is not currently accessible.
