Director’s Inspiration: Bong Joon Ho

An exhibition at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on the influences behind the filmmaking of Bong Joon Ho.

The exhibition traces the influences that shaped the work of Bong Joon Ho, a filmmaker, and asks where a director's ideas come from. Its subject is the process behind the films rather than a single title, so the focus falls on the references and inspirations that fed into the director's filmmaking.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, a museum in Los Angeles devoted to the art and history of film, hosts the exhibition. It is open for a visiting period, so guests can come at any point during it and move through the rooms at their own pace.

The exhibition suits anyone curious about how films are conceived, from devoted cinephiles following a particular director to visitors new to filmmaking history. It is a museum visit that gives context to the films themselves.
