Gavn! (new Date) is a concert in San Francisco in the blues, country and folk genres. These three styles share American roots: the blues grew out of African American music in the Southern United States, country draws on rural string-band and ballad traditions, and folk centers on songs of everyday life passed from performer to performer.

Cafe Du Nord is a San Francisco venue that hosts concerts and shows. The program suits anyone following American roots music, with blues, country and folk as its common threads. A twelve-bar blues structure, a verse-and-chorus country song and a folk ballad all rely on repeated forms that carry a story, which makes the three styles easy to hear side by side.
