Overview
Magic and Mentalism: The Good Liar is a stand-up and comedy show by performer Brian Curry, built around mind-reading routines and the methods of deception, presented in Washington at the Capital Hilton.
Brian Curry claims to read thoughts and predict the future, and the evening asks the audience to decide what that makes the performer: a fortune teller, a mind reader, a magician, or simply a very skilled fibber. The show plays with that ambiguity from start to finish.
Running about an hour, the performance pairs mind-reading routines with glimpses of the techniques behind them, so the focus moves from the effects themselves to how a convincing liar keeps an audience guessing. It is staged as a stand-up and comedy production, with the tone set by Curry's live patter.
The show is presented at the Capital Hilton, a Washington hotel that hosts concerts and shows, and it can also be staged at Hotel Washington. The venue is wheelchair accessible, which is worth knowing when planning a visit.
