MANIA: The ABBA Tribute

MANIA: The ABBA Tribute is a concert honoring the Swedish pop group ABBA, presented at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The original group does not perform in this show.

ABBA formed in Stockholm in 1972, with Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad as its members. The group won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with "Waterloo" and went on to release a string of international hits, including "Dancing Queen," "Mamma Mia," "Fernando" and "The Winner Takes It All." Its records combine melodic pop songwriting, close vocal harmonies and the synthesizer-led production that shaped its late-1970s sound. The group recorded together until the early 1980s.

MANIA is a tribute to that catalogue, so the show is built around ABBA's songs rather than new material. It suits listeners who want to hear the group's best-known music performed live, and audiences who enjoy the pop style of the 1970s and early 1980s.

The Palace of Fine Arts hosts concerts and shows in San Francisco, and this production is presented there.
