Salsa on a School Night: Día de los Muertos

A world music program at Epiphany Hall in the Epiphany Center for the Arts in Chicago, built around salsa and the Día de los Muertos theme of its title.

Salsa on a School Night: Día de los Muertos is a world music program presented at Epiphany Hall, in the Epiphany Center for the Arts. The title frames the evening around Día de los Muertos, the Mexican observance that honors deceased loved ones with remembrance and celebration.

Salsa, the dance music that grew out of Cuban son and Afro-Caribbean traditions and developed strongly in New York, is the musical reference named in the title, alongside the holiday theme. The two elements together define the evening's character.

The Epiphany Center for the Arts hosts concerts and shows in Chicago. This program suits listeners interested in Latin music and in the traditions of the Día de los Muertos season.
