Overview
The B-52s and Devo bring the Cosmic DE-Evolution Tour to the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre.
The B-52s and Devo share the bill for the Cosmic DE-Evolution Tour, joined by DJ Cummerbund and Cosmic DE in Chula Vista. The B-52s formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976, blending new wave and post-punk with dance-rock styles. The group released albums including their self-titled debut in 1979 and Cosmic Thing in 1989, yielding songs such as Rock Lobster and Love Shack. Their repertoire relies on theatrical vocals and retro-futuristic arrangements.
Devo formed in Akron, Ohio, in 1973, developing an electronic rock and new wave sound centered on industrial critique and performance art. The band released their debut album, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!, in 1978, followed by Freedom of Choice in 1980, which included the single Whip It. The performance at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre presents two distinct catalogues from foundational alternative rock acts.
