The Jury Experience – The Deadly Boat Ride: Will Washington DC Deliver Justice?

An interactive courtroom drama at Miracle Theatre in Washington, where the audience sits as the jury and decides the verdict in a fictional murder trial that begins with a fatal boat accident.

The Jury Experience – The Deadly Boat Ride: Will Washington DC Deliver Justice? is a games and mysteries outing staged as a courtroom drama. Spectators take the place of jurors, following testimony and examining evidence as the trial unfolds. The story begins on a summer night, when the son of a powerful politician takes the wheel of the family speedboat with an ex-lover and old friends aboard. By the end of the night one person is dead, another is in a coma, and the driver faces a murder charge. Was it jealous rage, or is more going on?

At several points in the trial, the audience votes, and those choices open different hidden angles, so each session can unfold differently. Attendees track witness statements, look for contradictions, and weigh the arguments before returning a verdict of guilty or not guilty. The running time is about an hour. The story deals with heavy material, including violence within a relationship, alcohol use, and an emergency call, and the performance includes intense emotional conflict.

The show takes place at Miracle Theatre and suits groups of friends, couples, and visitors who enjoy puzzles and courtroom stories. The space is fully accessible, with a wheelchair zone, and groups of thirty or more can book a private performance.
