Dave Hause & The Mermaid

Dave Hause & The Mermaid is a concert by the Philadelphia-born singer-songwriter Dave Hause with the band The Mermaid, built around the 10-song album ...And The Mermaid, at Songbyrd in Washington.

Dave Hause is an American musician born in Philadelphia in 1978. Signed to Jade Tree Records, Hause released the debut album Resolutions in 2011. The more recent records Drive it Like it's Stolen (2021) and Blood Harmony (2023) were produced by Will Hoge with session musicians, and they leaned toward the Americana-tinged songwriting Hause had developed as a solo artist, including solo tours and duo shows with the brother and collaborator Tim.

The project takes its name from...And The Mermaid, a record that brings Hause's songs back to plugged-in rock and roll with the band The Mermaid. Hause said the solo arrangements had been stripped back, and playing the songs with The Mermaid at the Sing Us Home festival in Philadelphia showed the energy the material needed. The music sits across pop, rock and indie, with Hause's melodies and vocals pushed by sharper guitar work.

Songbyrd is a Washington venue that hosts concerts and shows. The evening suits listeners who follow Hause's songwriting and want to hear it in its full-band form, with the songs performed by Hause together with The Mermaid.
