Death From Above 1979

Death From Above 1979 is a Canadian rock band formed in Toronto in 2001. The group released its debut album, You're a Woman, I'm a Machine, in 2004, and its members Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler have been the core of the project since its beginnings. After a hiatus, the band returned and issued The Physical World in 2014.

Their music is built on propulsive drums and bass, with distorted, synthesized guitar lines that place the band between garage-style rock and dance-oriented punk. The songs tend toward direct, driving arrangements, which is the core of the catalog that listeners of rock and indie music tend to follow from the 2004 debut onward.

The Howard Theatre hosts concerts and shows in Washington, and this stop on the tour gives audiences in the city a chance to hear the band's records performed in person. The evening suits fans of rock and indie music who want to hear the band's debut material and later albums on stage.
