Overview
Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio is a Chicago act built around the Hammond organ, with the instrument at the center of a three-piece lineup. The group's music draws on R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae, a range that places it within the soul and funk tradition of organ-led bands.
The organ trio format, which pairs a Hammond organ with drums and bass, has roots in mid-twentieth-century soul-jazz and gospel, and the group works in that lineage. Listeners who follow instrumental soul and funk will recognize the format's emphasis on groove, with the organ and rhythm section playing as a single unit.
