Hands On Your Hips is a rap act, and this concert brings its music to Los Angeles. Rap is a form of vocal delivery built on rhythmic speech over beats. The genre grew out of Black and Latino communities in New York City during the 1970s, where DJs at block parties and sound-system events laid the foundations for the style. Its lineage runs through sampling, storytelling and wordplay, traditions that most later rap artists continue to draw on.

Listeners who follow rap can hear the act's material performed live in Los Angeles, which makes the evening a fit for fans of beat-driven, lyric-focused hip-hop. Rhyme and rhythm are the core of the style, so the night is aimed at those who want to hear the words delivered in person.
