Heems

Babas at The Sultan Room

VEENA.NYC presents: IN IMPROVISATION, a one-night gathering of New York artists spanning experimental music, hip-hop, punk, indie rock and folk.

For a special improvised performance, Heems joins Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo and Hisham Bharoocha (Soft Circle, Black Dice) on drums, bringing together three distinct corners of New York City art and music for an unrehearsed, collaborative set.

The night celebrates VEENA COMPANY’s release of Heems’new album A Hundred Alibis, alongside the second vinyl pressing of the reissued Das Racist mixtapes.

The bill brings together artists Heems admires from across New York’s independent music community: Saudi Oil, one of the city’s most exciting new bands; Anand Wilder, co-founder of Yeasayer; and BABAS, featuring longtime collaborators Sunny Ali and Karna Ray, formerly of The Kominas.
