JIMI HENDRIX BIRTHDAY BASH w/ THE ELI COOK BAND

A birthday tribute to Jimi Hendrix at Songbyrd in Washington, D.C., with The Eli Cook Band and Brassie on the bill. The evening celebrates the music of the American guitarist rather than featuring Hendrix on stage.

Jimi Hendrix, the American guitarist whose albums Are You Experienced (1967) and Electric Ladyland (1968) shaped late-1960s rock, is the focus of this birthday celebration. His trio, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, with Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums, recorded "Purple Haze" and "Hey Joe," among other songs that remain central to the classic rock repertoire.

The Eli Cook Band and Brassie are the performing acts on the bill, which spans pop, rock and indie. This is a tribute to Hendrix's catalog, so the music comes from the performers, not from Hendrix himself.

Songbyrd is a Washington venue that hosts concerts and shows. The evening suits listeners interested in Hendrix's recordings and in the rock tradition that followed them, as well as those who enjoy a mix of rock and indie sounds in a single night.
