Joe Russo's Almost Dead

Joe Russo's Almost Dead is a rock project led by drummer Joe Russo, presented in concert at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. This is a pop, rock and indie act built around a catalogue of songs from another band.

Joe Russo's Almost Dead is built around the drummer Joe Russo, whose project reworks the repertoire of the Grateful Dead. The music sits in the pop, rock and indie territory, and the band is not the Grateful Dead itself; it is a separate group performing that songbook under its own name.

On stage, the act's concerts center on Grateful Dead material, so the evening draws on the familiar songs of that catalogue, reshaped by a rock band. Listeners who follow the Dead's songwriting, or who enjoy rock arrangements of classic American songs, will find the program's focus clear from the band's name and its repertoire.

The Warner Theatre hosts concerts and shows in Washington, D.C., and this stop brings the project to the city. The venue suits audiences looking for a rock-oriented evening built on a well-known songbook rather than a new original release.
