La Santa Cecilia

A concert by La Santa Cecilia, the world music band, at Siesta Valley Bowl in Orinda, a venue in the East Bay that hosts concerts and shows.

La Santa Cecilia is a Los Angeles-based band that draws on Latin American song traditions, blending cumbia, bolero and folk with a contemporary sound. Marisol Hernandez is the group's lead vocalist, and the songs are sung largely in Spanish. The band takes its name from Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music.

Their music sits within world music, with rhythms rooted in Latin American dance styles set alongside sung melodies and ballad-like phrasing. Listeners who follow Latin folk, cumbia and the broader Latin American roots scene will find the group's style in the context of those traditions.

Siesta Valley Bowl is a venue in Orinda that hosts concerts and shows, so this evening suits audiences looking for live world music in the East Bay.
