Leroy Jones Quintet

The Leroy Jones Quintet brings classic New Orleans jazz to the stage at Chickie Wah Wah.

Trumpet player Leroy Jones leads this ensemble through a program rooted in the traditional jazz vocabulary of New Orleans. Active for decades in local and international music circles, Jones emerged from the city's brass band tradition, co-founding the Fairview Brass Band in the 1970s and later leading the Hurricane Brass Band before forming his own quintet and collaborating widely, including a long tenure with Harry Connick Jr. Big Band.

Performances by the Leroy Jones Quintet typically feature a standard small-group jazz instrumentation of trumpet, rhythm section, and accompanying horns, delivering a repertoire that spans swing standards, blues, and original compositions deeply tied to local idioms. This performance takes place at Chickie Wah Wah, a neighborhood venue located in New Orleans that regularly presents live concerts across various musical genres.
