Magi Merlin w/ MVTE

A concert in Chicago at Sleeping Village featuring Magi Merlin with MVTE, a bill whose music draws on R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae.

Magi Merlin is the main name on this bill, with MVTE joining them. The music combines R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae, so the sound links the vocal melody and emotional phrasing of soul and gospel with the rhythmic drive of funk and the offbeat bass pattern of reggae. Listeners who follow contemporary R&B will recognize the smooth vocal lines, while those drawn to funk and reggae grooves will find rhythms they can move to.

Sleeping Village is the venue, a Chicago space that hosts concerts and shows. The night suits anyone who wants to hear several Black American and Caribbean-rooted styles side by side in a single evening, and fans of R&B, soul or reggae who want to see a contemporary act in person.
