Marshall Allen's Ghost Horizons

A jazz concert by Marshall Allen and the Ghost Horizons ensemble at Solar Myth in Philadelphia, presented by Ars Nova Workshop as a Halloween program.

Marshall Allen is a jazz musician, now a centenarian, who has long led the Sun Ra Arkestra. Ghost Horizons is the ensemble Allen leads in a constantly changing lineup. Its debut album, released for Otherly Love, gathers highlights from several incarnations of the band that Allen developed with guitarist DM Hotep at Solar Myth over the past few years.

This Halloween program adds new collaborations to that body of work. Eugene Lew provides 6-channel audio spatializations for the evening. Ars Nova Workshop presents the concert at Solar Myth, a Philadelphia venue that hosts concerts and shows.

The evening suits listeners who follow Allen's long association with the Sun Ra Arkestra and want to hear how the Ghost Horizons project has developed through its recent collaborations and its spatial sound design.
