Rhiannon Giddens

Rhiannon Giddens performs at The Fillmore in San Francisco, a concert in blues, country and folk by an American musician, actress and author.

Rhiannon Giddens is an American musician, actress and author, born in 1977 in Greensboro. Active since 2005, she builds an eclectic folk music that draws on old-time music, puirt à beul and folk. She was a founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, where she sang lead and played fiddle and banjo.

Her music sits in blues, country and folk, and her solo recordings include Freedom Highway (2017) and Songs of Our Native Daughters (2019). Both continue the roots traditions she explored in the Carolina Chocolate Drops, bringing old-time string playing and folk song into a broader repertoire.

The Fillmore hosts concerts and shows in San Francisco. This concert suits listeners drawn to traditional American song and string music, performed by an artist whose work also spans acting and writing.
