Romeo & Juliet in Concert

Romeo & Juliet in Concert is a film-concert presentation of the score to Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet, performed live as the film is shown. It takes place at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.

The program belongs to the film concerts and scores category, in which a live orchestra accompanies a screening of a film. Here the music of the story of Romeo and Juliet is the focus, with the dramatic structure of Shakespeare's tragedy carried by the score and the staging of the film.

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center hosts concerts and shows in Newark, and this evening is one of its presentations of live music alongside screened material. It suits audiences who know the story and want to hear the music performed in a concert hall rather than through a recording.

The title is also listed under the French form Roméo and the names Juliet in Concert and Romeo and Juliet, which refer to the same production.
